Her values of health, education, family, and trust drive her work and training. Her experiences, empathy, nonjudgmental approach, and heart of an advocate make that work successful, enabling her to create a connection with people from all walks of life that make them feel heard, understood, valued, and empowered.

Kimberly’s professional career in chemical dependency treatment centers, behavioral health, health and human services, workshop facilitation, health insurance, and the private and nonprofit sectors includes more than 25 years in a broad range of capacities. Her positions as an administrator, family mediator and educator, admissions and referral specialist, advocate, network manager, licensed independent consultant, and recovery coach have provided Kimberly with invaluable experience:

  • identifying mental illness and substance use in individuals,
  • evaluating specialties, strengths, and weaknesses in treatment centers,
  • communicating insurance coverage options,
  • understanding insurance benefits and helping ensure claims are paid,
  • reading and negotiating healthcare financial contracts,
  • accessing common features of Employee Assistance Programs,
  • training counselors in the nuances of insurance benefits and mental illness care,
  • devising and implementing strategies that maximize results,
  • relating successfully with executive-level clients,
  • mediating high-stakes and emotionally charged conversations within families and work environments,
  • educating families about the realities of living with a mental illness and/or chemical dependency, and
  • coaching and motivating individuals to practice every day being responsible, resilient, and thankful for their uniqueness, opportunities, and potential.

An advocate and trailblazer, Kimberly has been honored to share discussions with top-notch researchers, thought leaders, policy makers, and leaders in mental health care and chemical dependency treatment. As a Texas Advocate for the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, she is committed to increasing the dialogue surrounding mental health and decreasing the stigma surrounding mental illnesses. She speaks to state legislature representatives, advocating for access to care.

Kimberly also has been tapped by the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute’s Department of Population Medicine, a unique collaboration between Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim. The think tank, comprised of researchers from Harvard Medical School, social scientists, and consultants and researchers specializing in mental health, proposes to study the impact of high-deductible health plans on patients with bipolar disorder.

A former competitive water skier, masters swimmer, and swim coach, Kimberly adds a resolute work ethic, straightforward approach, and staunch belief in the power of practice and improvement to her undying passion for helping others.
